February 2008:

With plenty of snow this season, the ski resorts in Haute Savoie are attracting many late bookings.  We are frequently asked to find chalets and apartments to let.  If you would like to increase the publicity for your property, we invite you to advertise on our website - its free!

07th March 2007: Important News!!

Following a Government decree passed 15th September 2006, all rented properties, including holiday chalets and apartments, are required to have a "diagnostic technique" completed by 1st July 2007. 

The purpose of the new law is twofold:  firstly, to establish the relative energy efficiency of each rental property so that renters can be aware (even if heating costs are inclusive) and secondly, to encourage better energy conservation (which suggests that an energy tax will not be long in coming).

The "diagnostic technique" may include checks on the security and conformity of any internal gas and electrical supplies.  An independent, qualified tester must be engaged to carry out the tests and the estimated cost for the energy efficiency testing is around 250 Euros.  For your money, you may be awarded a "Haute Performance Energétique" badge for your property - as they have introduced in Switzerland and Germany!

There are further compliance requirements on the way:  a lead-free certification and 'natural and technological risks' check for mid-2008.  Given that the Haute Savoie is seismically active, it could be interesting!
